The final step, the Cuirassiers

With our old rule system I fielded five regiments, so this last step would take less than a day to convert. In the first photo, I have nearly twice the number needed, but no doubt with further changes, I will find a place for them.

The entire Prussian cuirassier corps numbered only 13 regiments, but many saw service in all the theatres during the war. When Fredrich moved between fronts he was accompanied by an elite force of cuirassiers and grenadiers.

The order of battle for Prague is complete with the latest addition of cuirassiers. Not shown during the project were the Frei Korps dressed in “double-blue”. These number 10 elements and are classed as skirmishers. I have another four elements of Jaeger and Volontaires du Prusse, the latter will be converted from Austrian Grenzer. The cylindrical hat will need to be reshaped as a mirliton and they will be ready to paint.

These last elements were not at Prague, but could well have been with the screening forces in central Bohemia.

After a short break, then the Austrians.

SYW Prussian Army – the Dragoons

In photo one, we have 14 elements that will need transforming into a dozen Dragoon regiments. Uniforms were pretty much standard, so repainting is kept to a minimum; cuffs, collars, lapels, and shabraque with trim.

Under the WRG 1685 – 1845 rule set, these represented two Dragoon regiments. The total number of figures have decreased as I used a number of these to fill up the SYW French cavalry. What remain are more than adequate to fill out the OB for Prague.

In the second photo, the Dragoons have their regimental distinctions and you will note two regiments are of double strength, Bayreuth and Schörlemmer.

Completion is around the corner, last step the Cuirassiers.

Now the Hussars

The total number of figures to be change were enough for those regiments present at Prague. I decided to represent all six regiments wearing the Mirliton cap. The extra number would serve as LH for the different Frei Korps that had mounted detachments.

Of the twelve elements (2 per regiment), four were ready and I need only note four uniform details on card before painting. Hussar regiment von Belling also wore black so that made the transformation easier.

Attention to horses was also needed, as the Prussian Hussars are mounted on similar coloured horse.

The last few steps. The Prussian Hussars are painted, however, a number of bases must be flocked and these I will do together with the four elements of Frei Korps and Jaegers.

Photo 2 shows the array of uniforms for the six regiments.

Tomorrow, the Dragoons.
