The Mediterranean terrain mat was constructed on an existing mat. This meant removing what grass remained from the surface as was done in the test example. The same process was needed on a number of terrain items. These will be added to the new items exclusive for this terrain mat.
The ground
Step one, a
base coat of white.
Step two,
the ground colour used Warm Grey straight from
the tube.
Three,
after drying overnight, I mixed Warm Grey and Burnt Sienna, diluted the mixture and applied this
sparingly with a sponge to bring variation to the ground.
Four,
adding a bit of Black with Warm Grey, this was diluted and applied in the same
method as step three. Use a moist feathered sponge to soften the edges of your
paint.
The grass
The complete mat was sprayed with a diluted white glue; best result is to set the nozzle for a fine spray. The grass is from Busch, an autumn mixture, and to distribute this evenly, I used the large sieve and gradually built up the density in random areas to create variety. Wait a day or two before sealing the grass with diluted white glue.
