The Austrians

The rebasing and refurbishment of the Seven Years War collection is nearing an end, only the Prussians now occupy the workbench. These past few weeks were spent correcting uniform details and adding flags where needed. The Austrians made the transition to their new bases in January of this year (link), the final step gave me an opportunity to organise several infantry regiments with a second battalion.

The German regiments consist of the (photo 1) Kolowrat, Arenberg, Waldeck and (photo 2) Browne, De Ligne and Vierzet; the latter two represent regiments raised in the Low Countries and carry an older version of flag, possibly not historical, but does set them apart.

Hungarian units made up a proportion of an Austrian army and present here are the Gyulay regiment in centre flanked by two battalions of grenadier companies, Hungarian grenadiers on the left, German grenadiers on the right.

Austria made extensive use of light troops or Grenzers and they are represented here, from left to right, the Karlstädter-Lykaner, Karlstädter-Oguliner and Slavonisch-Peterwardeiner regiments, each of one battalion.

Forming the heavy cavalry of the army are the Trautmansdorf and Serbelloni cuirassiers, seen upper left of the photo and the Jung-Modena and Saint-Ignon dragoons in foreground.

Representing the light cavalry are the Kaiser Franz I, Nádasdy and Pálffy hussar regiments.

Last but not least, the artillery park.
