Confederate and Union cavalry are now ready for an undercoat.
With 16
riders per pack, I based a number of figures as 2LH, these representing either
scouts, raiders or depleted units.
I am impressed with the figures as
the majority are of unique poses, armed with pistols and carbine or shotgun.
Historically, cavalry numbers hovered around 8% which is low when
compared with the Napoleonic Wars. Usually not employed as battlefield cavalry
they did play a useful role seizing key features, reconnaissance and long range
forays behind enemy lines.
As my focus is directed toward the Western
campaigns their battlefield employment was usually hindered by the rough
terrain.
