One week later

It is always a fine sight when flocking is added to the bases of your units. Twenty-six elements, two cannon and four artillery are ready to join the army assembled outside Paris. After a short break, I will add the flags, which were painted last month and then take one last photo before setting them in their boxes.

This was one of my longer painting projects, unlike the Allies, Austrians and Prussians were already painted, but needed rebasing for DBA-HX use and reorganized with their respective order of battle. The French had to be built with the purchase of new figures, but with the addition of excess elements from my other armies, I could add small units of grenadiers, lights and some cavalry.

The 26 elements or seven brigades represent the older line regiments of the French army. From a distance, you can recognize them as having the same colour in each canton of their flags, bordering the white cross. If you prefer a variable morale system for your games, these regiments should be better than average. While a nice option for small games (12 elements) I prefer to adjust the effectiveness of the command by adding or detracting from the number needed to reach demoralization. This value also reflects the quality of the general in command; cautious, bold or rash.

Pictured in the last photo are regiments, Navarre, La Marine, Belzunce, Mailly and Du Roi, each of four elements or four battalions strong and the smaller regiments of Lyonnais, La Roche and Poitou. Not pictured are Provence which were completed a month ago.

Next stop, the grand review.
Cheers,
